No need to get hot and cross making these from scratch when you use a bread machine to prepare the dough. Hint: Level off dry ingredients for accuracy.

Optional: Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Cara Cara Orange-Vanilla White Balsamic for optional glaze
1 ¼ cups milk
1 beaten egg (2/3 in dough, retain 1/3 for glaze)
5 T Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Blood Orange Olive Oil + more for oiling pan)
1/3 cup sugar
1 ¼ tsp. salt
3 ¾ cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. fresh nutmeg
1 ½ tsp. bread machine yeast
¾ cup raisins and/or mixed candied fruit
optional: fresh orange zest
Optional glaze: 2 Tablespoons : Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Cara Cara Orange-Vanilla White Balsamic mixed with 2-3 Tablespoons Icing Sugar (or more as desired)
Place first nine ingredients in bread machine pan. Then, place yeast on top, not touching any wet ingredients. Select your bread maker’s dough setting. When the add ingredient warning beeps, add the raisins/candied fruit (and optional orange zest).
When cycle is complete, divide dough into 16 balls. Place each ball 1-2 inches apart in well-oiled glass baking pans. Cover and let rise in a warm place 30 minutes.
Combine remaining beaten egg with a dash of water and brush on the top of the buns. Cut ¼ inch deep crosses on each bun. Bake at 350 for 20-24 minutes.
