I first tried nutritional yeast on popcorn when I was a student. It adds a savoury kick, and can be used as a salt substitute for those who are looking for a low or no-salt alternative.
Needed for this recipe:
Tri-coloured heritage non-GMO popcorn (1/2 cup unpopped)
Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Plant-Based Butter Olive Oil (3 Tablespoons approx.)
Merlot Sea Salt (1-2 pinches)
Nutritional Yeast (1-2 Tablespoons) available at most health food stores.
Ideally, you have an olive oil sprayer. Check out our hands down favourite here.
If you don’t have a sprayer, drizzle 1/2 the oil down the sides of the bowl. Add popcorn and toss to coat evenly. Then sprinkle with salt. Toss again and then drizzle on more oil as desired.
If you have an oil sprayer, spray and toss until evenly coated.
