Vegan Butter or Better Butter

There is so much dietary information available, and it seems to be a moving target.  One thing for sure, the dietary fats you consume have a significant impact on flavour and health.

Here are two recipe alternatives to regular butter, one that is vegan and another that is a better butter.

Vegan Butter

We sell a plant-based olive oil that is infused with botanicals to mimic the taste of an unsalted popcorn butter.  Since it is so flavourful, you can use far less oil than if you drizzle it with regular butter.  You can also make it into a spread simply by putting it in the fridge.

Flavoured oils are great on main dishes, pancakes, vegetables.

Method:

Choose a small bowl with a lid.

Pour in a few Tablespoons of Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Vegan Butter Olive Oil.  Sprinkle in a dash of salt (optional).  Refrigerate 2-3 days to let it fully harden.  If you want a rapid or more complete hardening (it will still be spreadable) place it in the freezer.

This is perfect for spreading on bread or toast, topping corn or pancakes.

Please note: Vegan Butter will thaw quickly at room temperature, so do not leave this out of the fridge for long.

 

Better Butter

This is not a vegan recipe, but rather a way of increasing the amount of mono-unsaturated, heart healthy fats in regular butter.  It also is spreadable right out of the fridge.  You can also make flavoured butters using any of our infused olive oils such as  Rosemary, Garlic, Milanese Gremolata, Chipotle, Lemon, Blood Orange or Persian Lime.

Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Vegan Butter Olive Oil

OR Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Ultra-Premium Certified Extra Virgin Olive Oil of your choice

Ingredients:

1 lb butter

2 cups Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. Butter Olive Oil or Ultra-Premium Certified Extra Virgin Olive Oil of your choice.

salt of your choice (optional)

 

Method:

Allow let your butter to reach room temperature and place in mixer (if you’re using a hand mixer then place it in a medium to large bowl).

Whip the butter until it is fluffy.

Gradually drizzle in your olive oil while mixing

Place it in a a container with a lid that you can reach in with a knife for spreading ( a bowl or tub is ideal).

Refrigerate over night so it can harden and spreads easily.
